Online gambling is an adult activity that carries financial risk. This guide brings together practical ways to stay in control, warning signs, and the official help lines available in Argentina.

The basics

  • 18+Only adults may gamble.
  • RiskGambling means you can genuinely lose money.
  • LeisureGambling is entertainment, not income and not a way to fix money problems.
  • LimitsSet them before you start, not during a session.

Money and time limits

Money

  • Set a monthly entertainment budget and decide what part of it, if any, goes on gambling.
  • Only use money you can afford to lose — never rent, food, bills or debt repayments.
  • Never gamble with borrowed money or sell things to keep playing.
  • Set deposit limits on the operator’s site before your first session.

Time

  • Decide how long a session will last and set an alarm.
  • Take breaks. Getting up, having a glass of water and checking the time help break the momentum.
  • Don’t play when you’re tired, have been drinking, or are upset.

Don’t chase losses

Trying to win back what you’ve lost by betting more is one of the riskiest behaviours. Losing is part of gambling; what’s gone is gone. If you find yourself wanting to “get it back”, that’s the moment to stop.

Warning signs

If any of these sound familiar, it may be time to ask for help:

  • You play for longer, or with more money, than you intended.
  • You need bigger bets to feel the same excitement.
  • You think about gambling for much of the day.
  • You lie about or hide how much you play or have lost.
  • You borrow money or fall behind on bills because of gambling.
  • You neglect work, study or family.
  • You feel irritable when you try to cut down.
  • You gamble to escape problems or low mood.

Operator tools

Argentine regulators require authorized operators to have responsible gambling policies. Look for these on the operator’s site:

Deposit limits
A daily, weekly or monthly cap on how much you can deposit.
Session reminders
Regular alerts showing how long you’ve been playing.
Time-out
Suspending your account for a period you choose.
Self-exclusion
A longer block on your access. Some jurisdictions, such as the Province of Buenos Aires, also run their own self-exclusion schemes.
